T he boutonniere honors special men in the wedding party. Traditionally, the Groom, Groomsmen, Fathers, Grandfathers, Ushers, and Ring Bearers are honored with boutonnieres. Other men that are often included are brothers, attendants, Uncles, Readers, musicians, and the minister or officiant. Sometimes the Groom’s boutonniere uses the same flower types that the other boutonnieres use except in a different color. An extra texture or accent is always added to the Groom’s boutonniere to make it special because this is his day, too. Sometimes the Groom wears a rare flower, like a Lady’s Slipper Orchid while the other honored men wear a more common flower, like the Makara or Dendrobium Orchid. The boutonnieres often include a leaf to match any greenery in the bouquets and are wrapped in ribbon, natural vine or a leaf wrap.
